About this Opportunity
The senior director of talent development and strategies will report to the vice president and chief Human Resources officer. The senior director will be responsible for designing and implementing a long-term strategy and approach for training and organizational development programs that address personal, professional, and organizational needs of leaders, people managers, and individual contributors. The strategy design should align the overall organizational mission to programing and provide equitable opportunities for continuous learning for all.
While the senior director can be primarily based at one of the Foundation’s three offices (our headquarters in Princeton, N.J.; New York City; or Washington, D.C.), this is not a remote position. The senior director will be required to visit the Princeton office as defined by the Foundation’s return-to-work policies still to be determined.

Essential Job Responsibilities
Talent Development and Performance
- Provide guidance and support including but not limited to performance management, professional and career development guidance.
- Conduct needs/gap analysis to determine learning and developmental solutions.
- Develop annual and long-term people development plans in support of organizational objectives.
- The management and analysis of talent information; analyze trends; draw conclusions and coach managers and leadership on gap-closing strategies; proactively make recommendations to align the talent data with developmental activities; generate data visualization and use effective storytelling to deliver results.
Talent Acquisition and Employer Brand
- Develop a comprehensive talent strategy that is aligned and strongly integrated with the business strategy, ensuring that the organization is making the right talent decisions to meet its strategic priorities.
- Initiate and lead efforts to evaluate and design current Employee Value Proposition, to communicate an authentic, compelling employment brand that maximizes attraction and retention of desired talent.
Organizational Development
- Manage the development of frameworks that support improved client future-state organizational design and alignment.
- Consult with leaders to address needs/opportunities, conduct organizational assessment, and define performance metrics and business outcomes to determine root cause of issues and develop organizational effective solutions.
- Deliver expertise in organizational design and development along with how to assess talent and help leaders build effective teams.
- Introduce multiple and innovative instructional design options and learning methodologies (e.g., online, blended, distance learning, classroom methods) to develop creative and effective solutions.
Change Management
- Drive adoption and ownership of change management methodology by working with leadership/management teams and end users to design, develop, and manage change management plans.
- Create awareness of change by assisting in creating and implementing comprehensive communication plans for all levels of the business.
- Support the business with organizational change and development as necessary, influencing leaders to address complex organizational design issues where required for business success.
HR Program and Project Management
- Lead special project work. Provide project management support, including assistance with developing project plans, calendars, and conducting status review meetings.
- Communicate frequently with project participants; write and present regular project status reports and updates. Facilitate the creation of user documentation and training materials.
- Own day-to-day project management for operational and tactical aspects of the team, including follow-up from all meetings and commitments, such as logistics, meeting preparation and development, and next steps/takeaways, including action-item management.
HR Communications
- Develop and implement talent strategy development communications and plans as a part of change and project management approach and implementation, policies and procedures rollout, and other people strategies initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Commitment to racial and health equity and the Foundation’s vision, values, and Guiding Principles.
- Experience working effectively in and fostering an inclusive environment as part of a multidisciplinary team with persons from diverse cultural, social, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Strategic Orientation: Demonstrated ability to understand and connect the day-to-day priorities, objectives, and activities for the talent development strategy functions to those of the Foundation for optimal results.
- People Management: Proven ability to design, build, and resource a team; coach, develop, and guide team members; conduct talent assessments; manage conflict; and resolve problems to ensure optimal outcomes for objectives and priorities.
- Analytics and Data Intelligence: Strong diagnostic, analytical, and quantitative skills with a demonstrated track record for translating data into strategic guidance.
- Consulting Skills: Demonstrated consultative and business-partnering skills with the ability to effectively communicate and influence partners across all areas of the business and levels.
- Change Management: Ability to design change-management planning, beginning with the diagnostics through implementation. Demonstrated ability to present ideas effectively and communicate clearly and persuasively with strong presentation skills for the purposes of bringing people along.
- Internal Communications: Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to synthesize material and focus quickly on the essence of an issue; identify major opportunities in a specific area; and see the big picture.
- Project Management: Strong knowledge and demonstrated application of project management methodologies and approaches to the end-to-end oversight, drive, and management of a portfolio of projects.
- Industry Expertise: Clear approach to remain connected to and demonstrate the ability to apply senior-level knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure compliance and assess impact or influence of trends on organizational objectives and/or operational resources.**
- Industry Education and Experience: Advanced degree in business management with 10 years of general talent strategy experience with at least five years in a people management or leadership position for multiple functional areas within the HR discipline.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
The senior director will perform job duties in a typical business office environment. Specific physical abilities required by this job include operating basic office equipment. Will be required to attend meetings, potentially both in person and off-site, via phone or videoconference.
Salary
