The purpose of the Sr. Director of Human Resources is to lead our strategy with external and internal sources to effectively assist in hiring, onboarding, and developing elite team members with a passion to intentionally elevate our team member experience. The Director will lead to improve HR systems and payroll efficiencies, oversee and document required training, certifications and licensing, direct employee compensation and benefit programs, ensure thorough personnel files and recordkeeping, provide consultation and leadership for all people operations issues, lead onboarding of new practice acquisitions, and ensure company compliance in all employment related functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the Recruiting team and ensure a top-grading recruitment process is completed for all candidates.
  • Leads the recruiting strategy to support our goals as an organization and collaborates closely with the Recruiter to ensure that we are executing and delivering on those goals.
  • Oversees and helps facilitate all new employee orientations.
  • Ensures employee paperwork is completed and filed in the personnel file per recordkeeping requirements.
  • Oversees preemployment background checks to include criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Assists employees in completing benefit paperwork.
  • Administers Health plans/Savings accounts/Dental/Vision/Voluntary plans/401(k) retirement program
  • Communicates with employees when training, testing, and required licenses are expiring, due, or need completed, to ensure compliance.
  • Manages all unemployment claims.
  • Manages workers compensation incidents, injuries, reporting, and care coordination.
  • Ensures driving and accident reports are managed properly.
  • Updates Paycom (HRIS) to ensure employee data is collected, current, correct and reviews data.
  • Completes and submits weekly or monthly HR reporting and updates organization and leadership team.
  • Schedules and leads the direction of required training.
  • Manages annual department budget.
  • Assists with coordinating and organizing team member activities that help create a joyful and fun culture.
  • Acts as a strategic leadership team member and provides input on planning, operations, and policy development aligned to our purpose, mission and culture.
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll and HRIS systems and ability to process payroll and all required HRIS reporting.
  • Assists with leave of absence administration and ADA compliance.
  • Writes and updates job descriptions, company policies and SOP’s as needed.
  • Works with managers on development initiatives and succession planning to support growth initiatives.
  • Ensures performance discussions and positive feedback is timely for team members.
  • Supports rewards and recognition of team members and creates intentional moments.
  • Completes exit interviews for employees leaving the company and advises executive team of retention opportunities.
  • Investigates complaints, collaborates with leaders on coaching, documentation, and terminations.
  • Be familiar with COVID practices and function as a resource for employees and management.
  • Develops organization strategies that align with our beliefs, behaviors and outcomes (BBO’s).
  • Lead all HR operations such as payroll, vendor management, and benefits administration.
  • Engage as necessary with legal counsel related to employment laws.
  • Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions.
  • Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation.


Education/License Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent experience, required.


Experience Requirements:

  • 7 years comprehensive Human Resources experience, at a similar or higher level of responsibility

Skills Requirements:

  • Must have moderate to advanced MS Office computer skills.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and lend support as needed.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.

Physical Requirements:

Level 1: A combination of sitting, standing, and walking with little requirement for physical effort. There may be a requirement to exert light physical effort for short periods. Ability to travel on an airplane and occasional overnight stays.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages a team of 1 to 5 individuals, including hiring, firing, disciplinary and performance responsibilities.


Travel Requirements:

1% - 10% travel required.

The ability on occasion to travel, including air travel and overnight travel, as needed for onsite visits to Espire Dental practice locations.
