The Information and Technology Solutions Directorate (ITSD) Infrastructure and Platform Solutions Team is responsible for developing and maintaining a common infrastructure that is used all around JPL. This team of 12 people are responsible for our infrastructure that spans cloud, on-prem, virtual computing, and shared storage.
Candidate chosen will develop, integrate, deploy, and operate highly available and resilient systems that support the infrastructure, business, mission systems, and applications of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Looking for a DevOps engineer with strong fundamentals and a cloud native mindset. The DevOps Engineer scope of duties will include installing, using, and customizing the following technologies:
- Kubernetes and Docker
- Amazon AWS architecture and design
- Terraform, CloudFormation, Jenkins, and Ansible
- Git source control repository
- Intermediate/advanced skills in Python
- Linux OS
In addition to the technologies listed above, the day to day will include:
- Working with developers to containerize existing server-based workloads
- Working in a Scrum team to deliver DevOps projects
- Deploying in Amazon AWS in highly available configurations
- Solving highly complex problems relating to mission critical services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence
- Automating manual tasks wherever possible
- Linux OS and server-side networking fundamentals
Due to involvement with sensitive government information, US citizenship or possession of a Green Card is required.
To qualify for this exciting opportunity, you must possess the following:
- BS in Computer Science or related
- 5+ years of full-time experience
- Docker and Kubernetes
- Proficient with Python
- Knowledge in AWS cloud deployment and management
- Knowledge of server-side networking including subnetting, and load balancing
- Systematic approach to problem solving and troubleshooting including root cause analysis
- Must be self-driven and have a good work ethic, sense of drive, and ability to work in a team environment.
In addition, candidates with the following will be preferred:
- Experience maintaining large AWS deployments
- AWS certifications

$173K - $201K
