Sr. Cost Accountant

Summary:

The Cost Accountant is responsible for the proper operation of the cost determination methods. The Cost Accountant also provides continuous review of procedures and records to assure that inventories and associated financial transactions are properly recorded and valued.

Manufacturing experience required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

• Provide updated financial information to management team, providing insight into previous days transactions.
• Assist the Controller with annual budget preparation.
• Calculate and prepare journal entries in connection with month end closing.
• Perform variance reconcilements of account balances at each month end.
• Ensure integrity of the system labor and operation rate codes. Analyze variances and identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Assure relevant costs are properly factored in local product/service sales prices.
• Provide relevant data and reports on a timely basis and in an usable format to effect proper control and planning over production costs.
• Review performance against operating benchmarks, standards, and targets.
• Provide interpretation of manufacturing operating results and/or explanation of significant deviations.
• Compile costing and analysis of physical inventories.
• Assist the Controller with compiling analytical and statistical information necessary to appraise operating effectiveness.
• Develop techniques to educate management personnel in the use of cost data in effective decision making.
• Assist in the successful implementation and execution of new process and systems technology to improve cost structure and provide superior customer service.
• Support the goals of all financial expectations as established by the business plan.
• Assist with requests from Corp Shared Services Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• None

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
• 3 years of ERP and cost systems preferred

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Understanding of Shiloh quality systems,
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Thorough understanding of general accounting principles
• Competent in Microsoft Office software with strong working knowledge of spreadsheet applications.

• Time split between plant and office environment

• Moderate noise level in the plant
• This position will perform work in both the plant and office environment with unrestricted movement

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $96,000.00 per year
