Johnson Electric (JE) excited to announce that we are currently recruiting for Commodity Lead for our Plymouth, MI location. This is a hybrid position with a mix of time in the office and time working from home. This position will help to establish sourcing strategies and manage assigned commodities to achieve annual performance objectives (including lead time reduction, cost saving, cash flow improvement, material inflation control, supplier consolidation, sourcing localization, MOQ reduction, quality improvement, preferred supplier selection). Ensure high quality materials are sourced timely while achieving the optimal total cost and minimizing supply chain risk as well as support material planning with supply risk management and support Supplier Quality when escalation is required to resolve issues. Dependent on experience could be a Sr. Commodity Lead.
Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Develop appropriate strategic sourcing plans to guide the team's sourcing activities for Americas.
- Conduct negotiations with suppliers focusing on terms and conditions of purchase contracts.
- Make market analysis on commodities and offer budget and savings plans to top management.
- Establish a regional supplier base in Americas ensuring supplier operations are following IATF16949 and ISO9000.
- Lead supplier benchmark activities to guide the SCS sourcing activities, including benchmarking other JE global site and consolidate regional supplier base for the assigned commodities.
- Regular (monthly, quarterly) reporting of price negotiations with suppliers based on index and/or volumes, new project launch, etc.
- Work closely with global counterparts to leverage common suppliers, benchmark pricing, and align costs across regions. Use global suppliers when appropriate to optimize landed cost, lead time and quality.
- Drive design for sourcing and manufacturing throughout New Product Development Process.
- Materials expedition or re-scheduling per market demand to meet given deadlines. Support spot purchasing activities for assigned commodities as required on the regional and global level.
Our Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with major in Supply Chain, Business or Engineering preferred
- 3 - 5 years of purchasing and commodity management experience with at least 2 years of Supplier or Commodity Management experience
- Familiar with ERP system (preferably Oracle) and office software, especially Excel and PPT
- Familiar with Automotive industry quality requirements preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and coordination; Good organizational skills and ability to achieve deliverables on time.
- Ability to work cooperatively with global counterparts.
