Job Description:
Procure materials, components, supplies, equipment and services as assigned. Evaluate supplier performance; determine best supply source by analysis or by approved procedure; anticipate possible price or status changes by having knowledge of assigned commodity. At this level, the buyer is using independent judgement and discretion and has the authority to commit the company to significant financial obligations. Will live Accraply’s “people centric” culture and lead by example.
Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and analyze requisitions for quantity, specifications and delivery requirements.
  • Issue request for quote for items not covered by existing purchasing agreement; recommend substitute if commodity is not available.
  • Maintain liaison with internal departments; interface with vendors to expedite deliveries, secure alternate materials, complete rejects and chargebacks.
  • Determine best supply source by evaluating quotations, value analysis, or application of existing agreement. Complete purchase transactions, and meet all deliverables.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and require compliance to all performance parameters for which they are accountable
  • Anticipate and discuss with leaders possible price changes through knowledge of assigned commodity and economic conditions.
  • Develop and maintain relationship with vendor representatives to maintain good working relations and to discuss items of mutual concern.
  • Select suppliers based on their competence, competitive standing and compatibility in alignment with company vision.
  • Participate in cross-functional team projects.
  • Develop long-term supplier contracts.
  • Meet and exceed procurement benchmarks for cost, quality, delivery, and workload.
  • Prepare reports, value analysis studies, and perform other procurement duties.
  • Initiate and drive continuous improvement through use of lean tools.
  • Ability to review projects, monitor and analyze progress and make and/or recommend changes as required.
  • May coach, develop and train less experienced team members.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree, or professional qualification or equivalent in a relevant discipline, or an ability to demonstrate the necessary work experience.
Experience:
  • 8+ years of experience as a buyer in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated understanding of complete supply chain.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics and Operations Management preferred.
  • 5+ years of buying experience in the packaging industry.
  • Involvement in other business disciplines related to packaging, labelling or converting equipment manufacturing.
