Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The purpose of the UNCG Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships is to provide students and their families with the resources necessary for financing the pursuit of higher education. Funding options administered by the FAO include need-based, non-need-based, grant, scholarship, loan, work-study, federal, state, institutional, and outside monies. ln addition, the primary purposes of the FAO are: To develop policy and implement procedures that work with regulatory compliance for the $200,000,000 in financial aid assistance administered yearly by the University; To assist in realizing the mission and ideals of the University; To offer effective and timely communication of financial aid eligibility criteria and receipt guidelines to the entire University community; To work to provide a quality environment and enriching experience to all members of the University community; To work collaboratively with other university offices to achieve success of the university; To develop goals in recruitment, retention, and graduation rates with respect to our policies and procedures; To develop goals related to recruitment, enrollment, retention, and graduation rates with respect to our policies and procedures.
Position Summary
This position will provide leadership and oversight of all scholarship operations for the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. The position will manage the staff within the scholarship area and plan all scholarship operations. The position will be responsible for ensuring that our scholarship strategy is tied to our enrollment strategy and that we are adhering to all donor agreements in our scholarship operations. The position will be responsible for the data analysis and executive summary preparation to detail how we are spending our scholarship dollars annually and if that spending is in alignment with the enrollment strategy.
The Senior Assistant Director for Scholarships will direct all scholarship operations, be the lead communicator with departments and senior administration in relation to scholarships, and set the work schedules for the scholarship staff. This position is also responsible for the oversight of the scholarship software platform and will direct the Assistant Director of Scholarships in managing the scholarship system and providing continual enhancements to the system.
This position will also be responsible for working with the Director of Financial Aid, the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management, and the Deans to ensure that we are stewarding scholarship dollars appropriately and that the strategy for awarding is appropriate to meet our desired goals.

Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required and three to five years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred Master’s Degree.
- Experience with scholarship operations and related software programs desired.
