DirectViz Solutions is a high-level, strategic IT services firm that meets mission needs for government customers. We are hiring a Senior Applications Engineer. This position is currently remote due to Covid and supports a Washington, DC based customer. A Top Secret clearance is required.

• Ability to support all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) process that is applied to all IT infrastructure projects.
• Support validation and verification of the planning, requirements analysis, engineering, design, development, testing, certification, and implementation of new and enhanced functional capabilities in the form of multiple, discrete projects.
• Verify and validate project engineering, design, development, and testing of new and enhanced functional applications and/or systems being proposed and/or approved for incorporation into service delivery mechanisms, i.e., software, hardware and associated processes.
• Ensure that each proposed and/or approved solution is properly developed to align and integrate with existing services, products, processes, and solutions in accordance with requirements, Department policy, Federal standards and regulations, and Industry best-practices
• Document and consolidate all changes made or in-progress to existing, proposed, prototype, and approved baselines in fielding or building system release versions of hardware and software system components, versions, releases, and test configurations

Operations (Cross Functional Support):

• Perform monitoring and reporting support on all Contractors performance standards and metrics for achieving desired business outcomes, monitoring operations, and ensuring quality performance.

Technical Skills Needed:

• 10+ years of application engineering related project development and management.
• Knowledge of current and planned application development environments.
• Provide advanced Windows Server administration and maintenance to ensure optimal performance of operating system.
• Support for troubleshooting server errors and identifying root cause and performing Application issues.
• Leads projects as assigned by Team Lead and/or Manager.
• Assists team members in the completion of major project tasks.
• Participate in project planning meetings and supporting the analysis of technical requirements and testing activities.
• Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills, proactively communicating with customers and framing technical issues so that they can be readily understood.
• Independently utilizes resources (knowledge bases, online resources, etc.) to research solutions for difficult problems.
• Works with outside vendors to maintain and repair systems & equipment in a timely manner.
• Follows Standard Operating Procedures and utilizes established support tools.
• Provide awareness of standard Windows operations systems and actively researches new technology.

Qualifications:

Required

• Knowledge of core IT systems (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, NTFS, SNMP, TCP/IP)
• Strong Windows Server troubleshooting skills
• Extensive knowledge of Windows Server 2012 through Windows Server 2019 operating systems

Desired

• BA/BS or equivalent and five years related experience.
• Experience with deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting software applications.
• Extensive knowledge of using PowerShell to automate tasks
