We are currently looking for a full-time Controller. The Controller is responsible for processing all accounting transactions/journal entries especially in the processing of payments, reconciling reports, making daily deposits fixed asset depreciation as well as providing financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data and preparing financial statement reports.
Responsibilities of the position include:
- Posts all forms of payments to student accounts daily.
- Posts financial aid monies to student accounts.
- Posts CEF payments.
- Makes all daily deposits.
- Posts ACH payments to student accounts.
- Auto Debits student accounts for three campuses.
- Processes paperwork from other locations and checks for accuracy.
- Processes Online refunds.
- Resolves any credit card disputes and chargebacks.
- Checks documents within Image Now for accuracy, then forwards and /or closes project.
- Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
- Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
- Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
- Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
- Assists in bank statement reconciliation.
- Secures financial information by completing data base backups.
- Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information and trends.
- Assists in the processing of month end/year end financials and the year-end audit.
- Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
- Answers accounting procedures questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
- Addresses any other needs as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements of the position include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Minimum two years previous experience in related field.
- An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
- Proficient computer skills with specific emphasis on Microsoft office programs, CampusNexus, Image Now and Great Plains.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently while meeting required deadlines.
- Ability to maintain concentration and attention to detail while working for extended periods of time.
- Understands and accepts the need for discretion and confidentiality.
- Must be detailed oriented.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to hear and speak effectively enough to speak with students, faculty, and staff face to face and via the telephone.
