American National is actively seeking full-time, senior level Accountants to join our investment team. Position levels range from Senior Accountant to Senior Accounting Analyst. Candidates will be considered for the noted job levels based upon qualifications. To thrive in the opportunities; candidates should have familiarity with GAAP standards and professional work experience in the industry that may include investment management, reconciliation, and technical reporting.

What will you do?

• Oversee organizational investments that may include (Fixed income, bonds, stock options, equities, and private placements)
• Ensure timely settlement of trades initiated by our internal investment department
• Prepare, review, and/or analyze GAAP and statutory financial information related to the company’s fixed income, equity, derivate, and alternative investments for internal and external reporting
• Manage month end reporting, ensuring timely closing of the investment accounting sub ledger
• Actively assess alternative investment options that include coordinating with our third-party service provider, ensuring journals are complete/accurate
• Perform accounting research as required for new investments, accounting standard updates, and changes
• Provide innovative tactics concerning hedging strategies
• Execution of operational processes in the subledger that support derivative accounting
• Perform control functions to safeguard compliance

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance or equivalent industry work experience considered
• Basic understanding of GAAP accounting
• Remote option available. If candidate selected is within reasonable driving distance to the League City, Texas campus a hybrid work schedule is preferred. Please discuss with your recruiter.
• Ability to work hours outside of normal business operations during peak periods

Salary for the position(s) can range from $68,000 for candidates who are minimally qualified through $95,000 for more highly qualified candidates at the analyst job level. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skills, and education.
