Job Summary

The Security Supervisor is responsible for the safety and effective security of IMTT’s facility and grounds. Must maintain compliance with applicable state and federal security regulations and standards. Will be responsible for ensuring proper scheduling is done when attendance cannot be made. Must be able to minimize negative impacts to the environment in all areas of operation. Identify and record problems (non-conformances, incidents and near misses); initiate, provide, implement, and verify solutions to those problems. The Security Guard will oversee continuous improvement in all areas pertaining to the job which include quality, health, safety, security, and environmental.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of plant safety, security policies and procedures
  • Implements and supports security initiatives and measures throughout the facility
  • Prepare and maintain accurate log forms and reports
  • Document all incoming and outgoing traffic from the facility
  • Report and respond to security incidents according to the procedure
  • Comply with facility access control requirements in compliance with the Facility Security Plan and all applicable policies and procedures; this includes but is not limited to checking and verifying identification; denying unauthorized access; screen and search vehicles and personnel in accordance with applicable state and federal regulation or standards and IMTT policies and procedures and contact IMTT employee prior to allowing entrance by visitors, vendors, or contractors for authorization
  • Perform facility patrols, both vehicle and foot patrols as directed by the Security Supervisor or the Facility Security Officer (FSO)
  • Monitor physical security within the facility
  • Control and issuance of certain keys
  • Follow emergency protocols in cases of emergency
  • Direct traffic as assigned
  • Provide line-of-sight or physical escorting of non-TWIC carrying visitors to the plant.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Security Officer or related security experience or knowledge preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT’s terminal locations.

Skills and Abilities

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
  • Ability to make decisions in a variable environment.
  • Ability to communicate with all other terminal departments.
  • Must possess a high level of integrity and trust.
  • The ability to meet and deal well with the public, which includes truck drivers, employees, contractors, visitors, and vendors
  • The ability to maintain self-control, make sound decisions and be able to react quickly under stressful conditions.
  • The ability to accept and respond to verbal and written instructions and decisions
  • Have good computer skills to be able to use and send e-mails; do basic word processing and use the card access system.

Hours of Work

  • Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm but will vary based on business needs.
  • Flexibility with scheduling as work schedule may rotate between shifts and days.
  • This position requires working rotating shifts, overtime, and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

  • Security Guards must wear company issues uniforms and steel toed work boot as well as and required PPE.
  • This job operates in an office environment and outside environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.
  • Be able to walk 1/4 mile in 5 minutes for completion of efficient patrols
  • Have manual dexterity to efficiently operate the guard gate controls, a computer keyboard, a telephone, a VCR, and other business devices
  • The ability to walk up and down steps; up to 25 steps per hour (typical max 150 vehicles per day, max search 100% of vehicles, 2 steps up and 2 steps down from guard house)
  • The ability to see (20/20) and hear either naturally or using corrective lenses or hearing aids
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces, including gravel, dirt, and rocks during foot patrols
  • Able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time (up to 12 hours per day) in the guardhouse and during foot patrols
  • The ability to work outside in all weather, (i.e., rain, snow, sleet, wind, heat, cold, humidity, etc.) for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and reach.
