JOB TITLE: Security Guard WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt

REPORTS TO: Principal PAY GRADE: Auxiliary 3 (minimum hourly rate $13.50)

DEPT./SCHOOL: Assigned Campus

DAYS/HOURS: 187/8 Hours Per Day




PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Under general supervision, provide security and protection for students and vehicles in student parking lot.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:
High School or equivalent

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to communicate with students, parents and staff
Ability to work independently
Ability to deal with problems involving several variables at one time

Certification and License:
Texas Department of Safety Non-Commissioned Security Officer Level II or the ability to become certified. Valid Texas drivers license, must meet insurability criteria.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Monitor student behavior and enforce school rules related to student conduct and parking.

2. Resolve conflict or confrontation between students and report disturbances to principal or assistant principal.

3. Control traffic and parking on campus grounds

4. Work cooperatively with office personnel

5. Assist law enforcement personnel as needed

6. Notify police, fire department or other appropriate authority of any situation regarding immediate attention.

7. Give directions or act as a guide to authorized visitors

8. Check doors, windows, and dates to be certain school facilities are secure

9. Perform other duties as assigned

Mental Demands:
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
Ability to carry out instructions (written, verbal or diagram)

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Continual walking and standing. Ability to work both inside and outside in varying climate conditions including adverse weather (hot, cold, inclement weather).
