The Opportunity
As QuidelOrtho continues to grow, we are looking for a Scientist I. Responsible for conducting research in assigned areas under direct supervision using established methodology. This position is responsible for conducting experiments aimed at development through validation of new in vitro diagnostic products or processes for our analyzer systems. This position is located in Rochester, NY.
The Responsibilities
- Provide technical support by conducting experimental testing of reagent formulations on diagnostic instruments in a timely manner.
- Perform work according to procedures outlined in the Quality System and maintain the laboratory in compliance with the Quality System.
- Maintain equipment according to SOPs.
- Work in a team environment under supervision using clearly defined procedures.
- Contribute to technical reports; help by providing data review and analysis.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records of work performed in accordance with cGMP and the procedures outlined in the Quality System.
- Consistently demonstrate the mission, values, and operating principles of QuidelOrtho.
- Adhere to safety requirements for handling of bloodborne pathogens.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
The Individual
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Medical Technology, or related scientific field with minimum 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior industrial experience is a plus.
- Basic computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel).
- Experience in Minitab or other statistical software is preferred.
- Familiar with general laboratory equipment and operating procedures.
- Familiar with principles of design of experiments (DOE’s) and able to execute them.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment and capable of working across multiple projects.
- Ability to conduct general biochemical laboratory procedures including handling of human blood/serum samples and reagents for testing purposes.
- Experience in diagnostic instrumentation and analyzer systems is required.
- Ability to travel up to 5%
