Qualifications: Master’s degree in counseling with a school certification K-12
Job Description:
- Consult with teachers, parents, and staff to enhance effectiveness in helping students
- Serve as an advocate for students
- Provide assistance in dealing with scheduling conflict
- Collaborate with feeder schools regarding school records, grading, special events, etc
- Provide counseling to individuals as needed to meet their educational, personal and social needs.
- Refer students to special programs, specialists and or community agencies when appropriate.
- Provide classroom/school-wide guidance activities to promote educational and career development.
- Provide career counseling opportunities to all subject areas
- Experience in working with high school students is preferred
- Experience in working with dual enrollment classes is preferred
- Demonstrates skill in developing interpersonal relationships with students, parents, teachers, staff and the general public.
- Leads the development of a career fair
- Administer interest inventories to students
- Assist teachers in the development of internship opportunities
- Coordinate SkillsUSA registration application process
- Provide students information regarding applications to colleges/technical schools
- Provide students information regarding financial aid for college/technical schools
- Distribute scholarship applications and collect student essays from teachers to select the Outstanding Student at Barnwell County Career Center
- Recruit prospective students from feeder schools with the assistance from teachers
- Coordinate end of course testing
- Attend state and local meetings regarding CTE
- Coordinate industry certification testing
- Assist teachers in local job shadowing experiences
- Provide daily bus and hall duty
- Carry out additional administrative duties as assigned by the Director
- Responsible for developing, writing, implementing, and monitoring the Local Application
