Location/Division Specific Information: At the Plainville, MA site within the Viral Vector Services (VVS), a division of Thermo Fisher Scientific, we deliver Advanced Therapeutics from process development through commercial supply, and we offer the expertise and resources vital to help clients deliver innovative gene therapies.
Shift: Tuesday-Saturday 2pm-10:30pm. Shift will change to Wednesday-Saturday 1pm-11:30 pm once the site is on a 24/7 production schedule. Required to train on first shift Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm until able to perform job duties independently as determined by manager.

  • Receive, log in and store all samples submitted to the QC laboratories
  • Prepare submission paperwork for contract testing laboratories and ship samples in coordination with Logistics department.
  • Coordinate quote generation with contract test labs and generate PO requests
  • Manage sample disposal in LIMS
  • Generation COT/COAs in LIMS and document management system
  • Maintain the laboratory inventory and supply stocking system with input from area owners
  • Perform routine equipment cleaning
  • Run autoclave to sterilize testing equipment
  • Review electronic logbooks for accuracy
  • Perform lab walk through inspections
  • Enter repair requests in work order system
  • Follow written standard operating procedures
  • Maintain and ensure safe laboratory environment and work practices
How will you get here?
Education/Experience
  • High school degree plus 2-3 years of relevant experience or Associates in a relevant scientific discipline preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry seen as a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Skilled with electronic information management systems (LIMS, electronic logbooks, etc.) and electronic organizational skills using Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet, SharePoint or other planning tools
  • Ability to communicate/work in a high pressure/high paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task and function effectively as a member of a team
  • Good attention to detail and ability to adhere to standard operating procedures
Special Requirements
  • Ability to gown and gain access to cleanroom and utility areas
  • Position requires frequent bending, stooping, standing, and ability to lift 40lbs
  • Ability to work with strong chemical odors such as Spor-Klenz or bleach
  • Position is considered essential personnel and may be required to staff the lab during inclement weather or other internal/external emergency situations
  • Rotating holiday coverage
  • Occasional off shift hours may be required to meet business needs
