Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for supporting the Sales Planning Manager. This role will support the execution of the commercial strategy and the development of the guidelines and sales planning activities. Additionally, this position will serve as support sales liaison between category marketing, finance, supply chain and field sales. This position will work in a Hybrid Work Environment Monday through Friday; specifically, in the Chicago office Tuesday and Wednesday. #LI-Hybrid May require up to 10% business travel.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports the translation of the marketing and business plans into clear commercial objectives, guidelines, and strategy to support development of commercial plan
  • Supports the SPM’s in the development, implementation, and tracking of distribution, shelving, merchandising, pricing, and activation strategy for each category brand
  • Provides sales perspective on category volume pacing and support the monthly S&OP process by preparing key meeting inputs for key company initiatives
  • Participate in periodic business reviews to discuss forecast accuracy, identify issues, and build strong plans
  • Conducts key consumption and shipment trends analysis and provides thought leadership and recommendations to manager and cross functional team
  • Provides customer/field sales perspective to the manager and brand teams to support development and implementation of marketing plans
  • Works with Brand and Sales Teams to identify most current category insights and develop into actionable stories
  • Works collaboratively with trade finance, sales leadership, and marketing to establish commercial processes and guidelines for category trade spending
  • Supports development and communication of reports and tracking of key category sales KPIs for total US and top 20 customers (i.e. new item tracker, distribution tracker, etc.)
  • Supports development and implementation of strategic projects to support category objectives for retail visibility, channel development, assortment/sizing, merchandising, customer marketing, pricing, and promotion
  • Participates in periodic business reviews to discuss forecast accuracy, identify issues, and build strong plans
  • Supports strategic initiatives related to process improvements within the SS&P function

Qualifications and Competencies

Minimum degree and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in food or CPG industry in a sales planning, business planning, category, field sales or marketing role

Specific competencies required:

  • Demonstrated analytical work experience
  • Comfortable with large sets of data and building complex models
  • Advanced computer skills; proven efficiency working in Microsoft Excel and Office
  • Experience working within and extracting data from IRI
  • Strong management skills with the ability to clearly communicate expectations and motivate peers to action
  • Excellent communication skills: Understands audience and adjusts communication to drive desired results
  • Proven ability to communicate complex and/or detailed information to multiple individual/audiences with differing knowledge levels, both in writing and verbally
  • Language skills: proficient in written and spoken English required; Spanish and French are helpful
