Safety Engineer

Definition of Job:
Auriga Polymers Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Indorama Ventures PLC is seeking a Safety Engineer to join our global innovation team. They will serve as the site Safety Engineer to ensure compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulatory requirements by developing, implementing, and managing robust, sustainable, and integrated health and safety management systems. Assess/audit numerous site safety & health regulatory compliance programs and recommend corrective actions as needed. Track emerging issues and develop action plans. Manage site-wide safety programs including lockout, hot work, confined space entry, high pressure water cleaning, fall protection, etc. Refine and maintain the site’s emergency response processes and systems.

Responsibilities/ Job Requirements:

  • Stay current on applicable OSHA and corporate safety requirements
  • Develop or revise site safety procedures to comply with regulatory and corporate standards
  • Develop or revise training programs and tools
  • Conduct live training as necessary to ensure effective communication
  • Perform self-assessments to measure compliance
  • Assist operating departments in managing risk and meeting safety objectives
  • Serve as “competent person” for excavations, scaffolding, etc.
  • Participate in weekly EH&S duty rotation as assigned
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and corporate record keeping requirements
  • Facilitate incident investigations and provide guidance on corrective actions as appropriate
  • Enter information on corporate incident management database and provide reports to management as requested
  • Provide support as needed to the site Emergency Response Team

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety or a related field
  • 3-5 years experience in an industrial environment
  • Strong leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Ability to develop end deliver training to all levels of the organization
