Safety Coordinator - Lakeland, FL Job at Crown Health Care Laundry Services
Job Summary:
To support the production, transportation, and maintenance staff at assigned facilities in maintaining the highest possible safety standards. Identifies safety concerns with the work environment, assists in creating engineering controls to eliminate hazards, and helps train employees to prevent injury.
Duties & Essential Job Functions
- Ensuring all new hires are adequately trained on subjects covered by the New Hire Training and OJT
- Performing and properly recording annual trainings and specialty trainings for all employees (forklift, LOTO, annual required, etc)
- Supervising plant during production hours. Coach employees on best practices for safely doing their jobs. Ensure all safety rules are being followed.
- Observing and assisting mechanics during maintenance tasks to ensure they understand how to fully lockout machines, identify hazards, and work safely.
- Auditing safety inspection forms to ensure employees completing them are adequately performing the inspections. Forms may include daily forklift, plant electrical, machine guard checklist, etc
- Work one on one with supervisors to ensure they understand and enforce all safety protocols.
- Maintain the Safety Calendar. Upload all Volume 2 documentation putting it in the correct directory with the property filename. Keep physical book current and dispose of records when retention policy instructs.
- Perform facility inspections to identify any OSHA, HLAC, or CLEAN violations. Record findings on Safety Action Inspection Form, report them to management, and follow up to ensure corrective actions are taken in a timely manner.
- Lead all accident investigations. Ensure at minimum the supervisor responsible and one member from maintenance are on each accident investigation team. Find ALL root causes. Where possible use engineering controls to eliminate the hazard.
- Understand all aspects of HLAC to ensure compliance. Check logs regularly to ensure they are being completed. Help maintain facility in inspection ready condition.
- Periodically ride along with drivers to help identify safety concerns with work practice and / or environments at customer facilities. Report finding to management and where possible eliminate or correct the hazard.
- Assist supervisors in performing Toolbox Talks when required by the calendar OR when specific information may be beneficial to keeping employees safe.
