Job Summary
The Philadelphia Inquirer is hiring Part-Time Route Sales Drivers. This is a fast pace operation and is open 24 hours, seven days a week. Employees in this role play an integral part in the operation as front-line employees, who work in a team-based environment. The responsibility of our Route Sales Drivers is to deliver our publications printed that day. Our drivers ensure that our products are properly placed and merchandised in stores and that the prior days papers are retrieved and returned for credit. This role pays $25.38/hour.

What You’ll Do
  • Load papers at dock for sales or home delivery trips
  • Count load against the galley to ensure proper amount of papers are loaded
  • Delivery papers to outlets
  • Display papers in a neat and organized manner
  • Set up any promotional point of purchase
  • Pick up returns from prior day sales
  • Report to Returns Room with prior day’s papers, returns should be tied and totaled
  • Check in with Sales Manager reporting any information about the route that needs to be address
  • Settle any cash for the day in the cashier’s room
Who We’re Looking For
  • Physical tasks include but are not limited to lifting to 30 lbs, reaching, and climbing
  • Move at a steady pace to ensure timely delivery
  • Good with directions
  • Ability to collect and settle cash from retailers
  • Good communications skills
  • Flexibility to work in different city and suburban areas
  • Early morning hours and weekend availability, week day availability a plus
  • Self motivated
  • Safe driving history
  • Ability to operate vehicle with standard transmission
