Commercial Roofing Installer/Apprentice

Responsibilities

• Understand and maintain GSM Services standards, policies, and procedures
• Maintain GSM Services attendance requirements
• Maintain proper conduct and dress code. Represent GSM Services in a professional manner
• Have a positive attitude and work to promote a positive work environment with all co-workers
• Follow all GSM Services and OSHA safety regulations. Assist in awareness of the job-site safety program and identify any job-site concerns
• Follow all directions given by the immediate leader (Roofing Team Leader) as it relates to job production
• Learn and gain skill in working to meet the standards and application quality set by GSM Services for the installation of sheet metal roofing
• Assist in organizing and placement of job-site materials
• Assist in determining all equipment is in safe working order. Report the condition of equipment to the immediate leader and ensure equipment is taken to the appropriate repair location
• Assist in maintaining appropriate housekeeping standards at both the job-site and the GSM Services facility
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Good physical condition and good balance
• Maintain a valid driver's license and a safe driving record
• Must be 18 years of age
• Cannot have a fear of heights
• Must be able to withstand hot, strenuous, and dirty conditions.
• Must have high school diploma or GED
• Possess the ability to read and write English to a high school level
• Have mechanical and mathematical ability
• The position involves climbing ladders, working in man lifts, working at heights on roofs
• Possess the physical capabilities required for commercial roofing, including but not limited to lifting (up to 75 lbs.), stooping bending, material handling, ladder climbing, awareness of height exposure and the capacity to work in adverse weather conditions
• Learn and gain skill in working to meet the standards and application quality set by GSM Services for the installation of roofing materials
• Learn and gain skill in the proper use and maintenance of roof equipment
• Demonstrate ability to carry out directions given by the immediate supervisor as it relates to job-site production
• Basic knowledge of tools
• Obtain GSM Services forklift operator certification
• Obtain additional certifications as required for lifts, lulls, and other equipment
