Road & Bridge Supervisor - R & B Pueblo West Job at Pueblo County, CO
Position Summary
Supervises, assigns and directs work crews in performing road and bridge maintenance and construction projects. Investigates, prioritizes and addresses complaints.

What You Will Do
- Exercises direct, first-level supervision of positions, employees, operations and activities. Includes coordinating staff training, assigning and reviewing work, participating in the interview and selection process, making recommendations impacting pay, status and disciplinary action, evaluating performance independently or in conjunction with a higher level supervisor/manager and approving time off and approving staff timesheets.
- Supervises, assigns and inspects projects to include scheduling work, implementing proper work site traffic control, monitoring project performance and ensuring repair, maintenance and construction work is completed in accordance with specifications.
- Plans, evaluates and adjusts activities of personnel performing assigned tasks.
- Inspects, documents and initiates needed repairs.
- Acquires utility locations.
- Coordinates work with engineering and other agencies.
- Supervises crews and assigns daily projects including special projects such as building new bridges, paving roads and culvert installations.
- Performs vehicle and equipment inspections to ensure a safe operating condition.
- Coordinates equipment repair and resource acquisition in-house and with vendors.
- Investigates employee accidents and files reports.
- Investigates, prioritizes and addresses complaints.
- Makes emergency plans and initiates employee call back as required.
- Calculates quantities of materials required; monitors and accounts for materials usage.
- Reviews time keeping records.
- Fills in for other supervisory staff in their absence.
- Develops project schedules.
- Prepares shop safety meetings.
- Required on-call rotation; must carry and answer the emergency pager and after hours phone.
- Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
What You Have
Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.Experience: Minimum of nine years of heavy equipment operating experience in the road maintenance/road construction industry required.
Minimum of two years supervisory experience required.
Licenses and/or Certificates:
Valid Class A Commercial Colorado Driver’s License with tanker and air brake endorsements required.
MSHA Certification required.
Certified flagger required.
CPR and first aid certificate required.
- Must successfully pass background check.
