Treasure Valley Hospital is a 28-bed, Joint Commission accredited surgical facility located in Boise, Idaho, which is consistently recognized for patient satisfaction. This is a full-time position, day shift.
License or Certification:
- Current Idaho RN license required.
- BLS certification required. ACLS and PALS certification required within 90 days of hire.
Education, Vocational Training, and Experience:
- Graduate of accredited nursing school required.
- AT LEAST ONE YEAR OF DEMONSTRATED ORTHO, NEURO, AND MULTI-DISCIPLINARY PERI-ANESTHESIA EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
Interpersonal Relations: Interaction with patients, family members, physicians, referral sources, affiliating schools, visitors, guests, etc., must be in a manner that is friendly, positive, supportive, respectful, courteous, cooperative, and professional. This behavior must promote an atmosphere of teamwork which is consistent with hospital standards and guidelines to ensure a positive healthcare experience.
Skills and Abilities:
- Must have the ability to maintain patient records electronically
- Must be able to communicate effectively with hospital personnel, patients, and visitors
- Works with minimal physician supervision, but asks questions to clarify physician orders as necessary
- Organizes work, sets priorities, meets tight deadlines, and works well under stress
- Possesses flexibility, analytical skills, manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
- Works well in a fast-paced environment
- Familiar with medical terminology
- Has good reasoning ability and good independent judgment
- Demonstrates continued competence in caring for individuals based on age-specific needs and cultural preferences
- Able to put patients and visitors at ease by addressing their concerns and being compassionate
- Willing to learn new procedures and techniques
Physical Tasks:
- Moderate to extremely heavy physical effort (lift/carry over 50 lbs.); lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients.
- Occasional to frequent extensive or prolonged standing/walking.
- Occasional to considerable reaching, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- Must have the ability to enunciate English clearly and use proper grammar.
Environmental Conditions:
- High-volume surgical hospital. PreOp and Recovery areas are together in one space.
- Clinical staff may need to handle occasional emergency or crisis situations.
Machines and Equipment Used: Perioperative equipment, protective equipment, computer, multi-line telephone, time clock.
