As a Barclays Risk Support Analyst, you will be responsible in using hybrid of development and operate skills to collaborate across disciplines by applying software engineering principles to eliminate repeated manual effort (Toil) and create automated, scalable, and reliable services. You will also actively contribute key initiatives on Operational engineering, Observability engineering, Service Risk engineering and Resiliency engineering to ensure production stability and SLA adherence to our data consumers.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. What will you be doing?
- Establishing engineering discipline within GTSM Risk IT area and driving the agenda throughout the department whilst aiding the wider team objectives
- Reducing MTTR (Mean Time to Repair) throughout the department and improving stability
- Exceling at all we do and driving this mindset throughout the department – making everything we touch better
- Driving Full Stack Observability throughout the department and being a role model on how this can be used to achieve our objectives and reduce MTTR
- Managing the adoption of Automation and being a role model on how this can be used to drive efficiencies, consistency, reduce MTTR and achieve our objectives
- Driving technical excellence and accountability/ownership of the full stack that makes up our services
What we’re looking for:
- Practical experience of maintaining production environments with distributed systems and highly available services
- Knowledge of IT Infrastructure components (for example Linux or Windows Server OS, MS SQL or Oracle Databases, Networks, Load Balancers, Storage, middleware - solace)
- Practical experience of Observability/Monitoring solutions (such as AppDynamics, Thousand Eyes, Splunk, ELK/elastic or similar)
- Working knowledge of programming languages like Java, .net, python, and of CI/CD Pipelines and Repositories, for example Jenkins and GitHub
Skills that will help you in the role:
- Working in either a SRE or DevOps model would be desirable, however if you have passion and an understanding of what it means we still want to hear from you
- Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals
- Working knowledge of Investment Banking and how different business work
- Understanding of software skills such as design, development, maintenance, testing and software improvement
