Job Summary:
Ensure that the hospital is billing appropriately to all third party payers as well as resolving and working through accounts appropriately and accurately. Maintain a current level of knowledge with billing rules and regulations to facilitate proper claims processing and ensure that we are in compliance with state and federal regulations. Work to ensure that the billing edits are resolved timely and effectively. Keep apprised of the updates to billing. Provides expertise to all areas of the department to enhance all receivable activity. Updates receivable system with any new, corrected or pertinent information in relation to resolution of receivable accounts. Stay current with all tasking functions.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure prompt, accurate, and compliant billing for all third party patient claims.
2. Resolve failed billing edits and claim submission rejections.
3. Keep current with the changes to billing regulations and protocols. Have a clear understanding of how these changes will impact the Hospital's departments.
4. Accurate billing of patient accounts according to established departmental guidelines based upon regulation requirements.
5. Monitors and reconciles daily reports as well as assigned worklist for appropriate account resolution.
6. Documentation of all action taken on an account.
7. Completes all projects as assigned.
8. Maintains department standards of productivity.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested to maintain a high level of service.
10. Demonstrates professional work behavior by following Service Standards and Success factors.
11. Complies with departmental organizational policies and procedures and adheres to external agency requirements.
12. Providing timely and accurate information regarding patient data/status to other health system departments, physicians, physician office staffs, and other publics while insuring patient confidentiality is not breached.
Required Skills
Required Experience
Two years college, and/or two years prior equivalent experience in healthcare revenue cycle. Computer literacy in PC environment is required with strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. Meditech experience a plus.
