Key Objective(s): The main purpose of the Retail Assistant Buyer is:

• Assist the Retail Senior Buyer with product development, weekly picks, monthly reorders, custom approvals, reporting and promotions for Nickelodeon Universe, DreamWorks Waterpark, and other American Dream owned attractions.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop new initiatives and products by staying current on emerging merchandise trends, store displays, attending trade shows, and working with partners.
• Assist in vendor selection and development of positive business relationships.
• Monitor inventory, replenish stock levels to ensure sale goals and profitability are met.
• Provide analysis for pricing strategies, promotions, and sales.
• Maintain price changes for sales and promotions in retail system.
• Ensure retail stores follow proper sales and promotional signage.
• Accurately process all purchase orders and validate invoices with purchases for accuracy.
• Run weekly and monthly reports of sales, by categories, SKUs, and locations.
• Set-up and input orders and reorders ensuring that each vendor receives their purchases and shipping instructions.
• Assist with meeting and maintaining our sales margin goals and inventory goals for each retail location.
• Ensure that stock level in each store is maintained through picks, transfers, and orders.
• Oversee and process store damaged and defective product.
• Work through approval process for custom, licensed merchandise
• Create and maintain an accurate log of submitted art and safety testing for each item.
• Maintain open communications with vendors, manufacturers, and logistic team for the status of product, shipping, price, minimums etc. to ensure our files are up to date.
• Assist stores in setups, displays, store walks, and product assortment.
• Lead weekly, monthly, and annual inventory counts.
• Attend/Contribute to Weekly Retail Staff Meetings
• Maintain Retail Showroom and Samples
• Manage day to day maintenance of ecommerce website.
• DC Fridays – assist DC team and merchandise shops in the Center, walk shops to check merchandising standards, jump in when DC needs support with fill-ins, receiving, stickering, cycle counts etc.
• Troubleshoot product/delivery/pricing issues with DC and Retail teams.
• Assist Tenant Services with Fines
• Perform other duties as assigned by Retail leadership.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
• 5+ years of retail operation, buying, visual merchandising and warehousing knowledge
• Experience and understanding of a theme park environment
• Knowledge and experience in product development
• Ability to travel as needed – trade shows, vendors, etc.
• Self-directed with ability to work with little supervision
• Cash handling background preferred
• Ability to work varied shifts to include nights and weekends
• Effective communication and relationship building skills
• Computer program knowledge – Word, Excel, Outlook, merchandise software
