Job Summary
As the Restaurant Server you will greet and serve food and beverage to guests in a prompt, friendly and courteous manner in accordance with hotel standards. Remain attentive to the guests throughout dining to ensure guests have an exceptional dining experience. Process guest check and collect payment in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Present menus, take food and beverage orders and enter in the point-of-sale system.
- Serve all food and beverage orders to guests in a timely manner.
- Make food and drink recommendations to guests and answer menu and service-related questions.
- Communicate and work closely with kitchen staff to ensure food is prepared accordingly.
- Check in with guest throughout the meal service to ensure satisfaction.
- Observe guests to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.
- Process guest check and collect payment in compliance with cash handling, credit card transactions, room charge processing, and accounting policies and procedures.
- Handle guests’ concerns or complaints in a professional manner and inform manager to ensure overall guest satisfaction.
- Clean and reset tables according to established hotel standards.
- Perform daily side work, complete opening and closing duties, including restocking items, organizing workstations and service areas.
- Support and assist team members in all aspects of service to ensure a great dining experience for the guests.
- Be aware of guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction.
- Comply with OSHA standards and health department regulations.
- Practice safe work habits always to avoid injury to self or other employees and report any unsafe conditions to management.
- Perform other duties/tasks as assigned by management.
Skills
- Excellent inter-personal communication and customer service skills.
- Basic math or accounting skills and standard cash handling procedures.
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
- Must have a professional, warm demeanor and be service oriented.
- Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and supervisors.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time and walk for entire shift.
- Ability to lift and carry trays, as well as bend, kneel and stoop repeatedly.
- Ability to grasp, lift, carry, move, push, or pull goods weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work flexible shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous serving experience preferred
- ServSafe certification a plus
