$15,000 Sign-On Bonus
This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus. Sign-on bonuses are prorated based on hours scheduled. Current team members or former team members employed by North Memorial Health, Maple Grove Health, or Blaze Health in the last six (6) months are not eligible to receive a sign on bonus. Sign-on bonuses have a repayment commitment, and a prorated repayment is required if the commitment is not fulfilled.

About this position
Provides high performance technical expertise, focused and specialized in life support measures, code response, and the care and diagnosis of both acute and chronic pulmonary disorders. Respiratory Therapists also provide a cross-divisional resource for clinical support and education in the Medical Center.
Provides for the administration of airway management, mechanical ventilator application and management, therapeutic respiratory care services, oxygen and aerosol therapy, limited diagnostic services, near-patient testing (NPT), CPR, customer transport, customer education, and other special services as provided in the department scope of services. These services may include newborn, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric customer groups, including acute and chronic care conditions.
What we’ll expect from you
- Responds to medical code calls for CPR, MRT, Medical Team, Trauma Team, Heart Team, and OB Stat Teams
- Provides ventilator maintenance, management, and customer weaning on the order of a physician, or by hospital protocol and procedure
- Provides airway management to customers, and clinical expertise to other disciplines
- Administers therapeutic services by order for both acute and chronic hospital customers
- Administers oxygen by physician order or by hospital protocol, and serves as a clinical and equipment resource to other medical personnel in this therapy
- Provides diagnostic services such as bedside spirometry, and near patient testing (NPT)
- Accepts team leadership assignments as directed
- Operates as a functional participant in the event of a HICS implementation
- Assists in special projects as directed by the department supervisor or manager
- Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals.
- The team member is accountable to demonstrate proficiency for the skills outlined in the appropriate position skills list.
- The team member is accountable to maintain skill proficiency, including improvement where deemed necessary, and upgrading any additional or new skills on the appropriate position skills list.

Education
- Graduate of an approved JRCRTE/COARC respiratory care program
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Training and experience in a medical acute care environment
- Some positions may require experience in one or more of the following specialized areas:
o Diagnostics-PFT/Bronchoscopy
o Pulmonary/Rehab
o Equipment Specialist
o Charge
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrates an ability to communicate effectively, organize and prioritize assignments, make decisions, and exercise good judgment
- Current RCP scope of practice at North Memorial for non-specific assignment.
Licensure/Certification(s) Mandatory
- Current Minnesota RT License (Team members must meet all annual requirements for renewal including mandated CEU's) or obtained within two months of hire
- Must be currently certified as a BLS provider
- Must attain and maintain certification as an ACLS Provider; only applicable for Respiratory Therapists with therapeutic in-patient contact (provided)
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) must be obtained within one year of hire date if hired after January 1, 2017 NMHC Standard
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) if assigned to NICU NMHC Standard
- Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) if assigned to Diagnostics-PFT/Bronchoscopy NMHC Standard
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if assigned to Charge position NMHC Standard

Hours per two week pay period: 72
Shift: Nights 12 hours
