Organization Summary: Harvest Home is a faith-based residential non-profit organization that transforms the lives of homeless pregnant women and their children by providing housing, support, and programs that equip women to become great mothers.


Position Summary: The primary purpose of the Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) is to create and maintain a supportive communal living environment among Harvest Home's residents by providing onsite supervision and assistance with daily activities in the following areas: chores, meals, policies, classes, curfew, and independent and community-living skills. The RLC assists the Case Manager, RLC Lead and Program Manager with coordination of the residential living environment to support resident program plans.


Position Schedule:

  • Full time 3pm-11pm, 5 days a week including Saturday, Sunday, Monday; schedule subject to change

Essential Duties

Include but are not limited to:

  • Create a joyful, innovative, empowered, welcoming, structured, and safe home environment which inspires engagement, follow through, and ownership.
  • Manage household structure, activities & schedules (Chores, classes, meals, activities, etc).
  • Work closely with residents to meet program goals and expectations.
  • Supporting residents in practicing life skills (chores, cooking, timeliness, etc.)
  • Connect with class teachers, volunteers, and donors coming into the home for groups, classes, events, workshops, service opportunities, etc.
  • Proactively communicate information as it pertains to community-living and the home environment.
  • Maintain a positive, strengths-based and culturally appropriate, trauma-informed, therapeutic environment
  • Engage in crisis prevention and crisis intervention to de-escalate incidents of potential harm, aggression, etc. and coordinate emergency responses as needed.
  • Facilitate house meeting weekly to ensure the timely communication of information necessary to ensure resident success/participation.
  • Support and guide residents collectively in order to promote an environment / relationship of accountability based on trust and respect.
  • Address behavior concerns with residents collaboratively, directly and in a timely manner.
  • Provide all necessary documentation of resident behavior and interventions attempted.
  • Assist with the transition of new residents into the residential living environment through facilitating their move-in and orientation, initiating hospitality and community integration efforts.
  • Establish and cultivate respectful and appropriate relationships with residents of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the home through proper end-of-shift lock up protocol
  • Ensure daily household operations are upheld including maintenance, routine checks, and/or re-stocking supplies as needed.
  • Purchase weekly groceries and supplies for the home.
  • Assist with transporting residents in organization and/or personal vehicle.
  • Occasional staffing of other days/times/hours as needed and as available.
  • Attend house, program, and agency meetings and weekly supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years' experience in social service field (non-profits, government, missions, etc.)
  • High EQ in order to foster respective and appropriate relationships with residents in order to serve our population well including an understanding of and sensitivity to concerning homelessness, trauma, mental health, etc.
  • Strong Communication (open, honest, humble) and Organization Skills. We value solution-oriented feedback and problem solving.
  • Ability to work as a part of our Harvest Home team while also filling a solo shift role.
  • Smart Phone Needed
  • Driver’s License and Personal Vehicle for occasional resident transportation
  • Acceptance of organization ministry standards (to be provided after application)
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office, Email (Google or Outlook), Chat Tool (ex: Slack), etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with many of the following: high-risk populations, women, homelessness, pregnancy, victims of trauma, mental health, substance use, domestic violence, foster care, DCFS, etc.
  • Substance Abuse Counselor Certification
  • Prior experience working in a shelter, group home, and/or residential treatment program.
  • Crisis-intervention and/or de-escalation training, skills, and/or experience
