BWC's Division of Safety & Hygiene provides a variety of programs, services and resources to help Ohio employers create safe and healthful workplaces. We strive to maintain a safe, healthy, competitive, and productive workforce in Ohio by preventing occupational accidents, injuries and illnesses. BWC is currently operating under a hybrid schedule that can incorporate both teleworking and in-office hours. Employees may be required to report to the office when requested by management &/or for their initial job training.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Assisting with research projects pertaining to non-fatal and fatal occupational injuries/illnesses;
  • Collecting and entering data into BLS program databases for Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses (SOII) the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI) programs;
  • Reviewing, researching, and refining establishment information for employers included in the SOII program;
  • Assisting with data correction and verification processes for information reported for the SOII program.

Qualifications


Required Experience and/or Education:

3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in operational, mathematical, analytical &/or statistical techniques used in problem solving or decision making.

Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.


Knowledge of
: Public relations, human relations, BWC & DSH policies & procedures*, operational, mathematical, analytical or statistical research techniques used in problem solving or decision making BLS/NAICS coding procedures*,

Skill in: Public relations, public speaking, customer service, operation of PC, MS Office, BLS computer system*.

Ability to: Define problems, collect data, establish facts, & draw valid conclusions, use research methods in gathering data, prepare meaningful, concise & accurate reports, use proper research methods in gathering data, cooperate with co-workers on group projects, handle sensitive inquiries & contacts with officials & general public, relate with employers and other internal and external customers..

BWC OCSEA Selection Rights:

This position shall be filled in accordance with the provisions of the OCSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. BWC bargaining unit members have selection rights before non-bargaining unit members. All other applications will only be considered if an internal bargaining unit applicant is not selected for this position.

Salary Information:
Unless required by legislation or union contract, candidates will start at lowest rate of the salary range associated with this position.

Transportation:
Position may require travel; therefore, persons occupying this position must be able to provide own transportation &/or legally operate a state-owned vehicle.
