The Huang lab(https://huanglab.ac)at the Massachusetts General Hospital(MGH) and the Broad Institute is looking for a highly motivated individual to join as a postdoctoral fellow. This position will be jointly affiliated with the Broad Institute, Harvard Medical School, and the Massachusetts General Hospital. The Huang lab systematically advances genetic discovery to disease pathogenesis insights for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) and severe psychiatric disorders, in a manner that benefits people of all ancestries in the world. To achieve this goal, we develop novel statistical genetics methods, conduct state-of-art analyses, lead international collaborations to create critical resources, and perform large-scale systematic screening of disease-associated genetic loci. The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for leading a major project toward the overarching research interest of the Huang lab.Our lab provides a vibrant multidisciplinary research environment with close links to the Broad Institute, MIT, Harvard and Harvard-affiliated hospitals, and training and career development opportunities spanning statistical genetics, computational biology, psychiatric genetics, precision medicine, and population health. The Huang lab is committed to mentoring trainees for their career development and advancement through regular 1:1 meetings with the PI, active peer learning within the lab, and extensive collaboration with other labs at MGH, Broad, and consortia (e.g., Daly lab, PGC, and IIBDGC). As a member of our groups, you will also be provided the opportunity for your contributions to be utilized and recognized across the vast global network of researchers in the fields of genomics and complex disease research. The candidate should have a strong computational background, good publication history, knowledge of current research methods, and be able to adapt quickly and be part of a cross-functional team in a rapidly changing environment.

  • PhD in mathematics, statistics, computer science, bioinformatics, human genetics, epigenetics or other related fields.
  • Good publication history in computational biology, genetics or epigenetics research.
  • Strong initiative and ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and projects essential.
  • Solid understanding of genetic analysis methodologies and tools, and/or computational methods frequently used in analyzing the regulatory genome.
  • Understanding of population genetics is a plus.
  • Practical experience with Linux environments and proficient in a least one of the following programming languages: Java, C, MATLAB, R or Python.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
