Responsibilities*

Following recruitment procedures to approach, obtain consent from and enroll Emergency Department patients in study activities (Hurley Medical Center/Covenant Healthcare)

Facilitating baseline data collection during study visits (e.g., basic demographic information).

Completing tracking paperwork accurately using Excel, ACCESS, QUALTRICS, and study dashboard.

Using this information to track recruitment and retention of participants.

Communicating with participants via phone, text, and email to ensure study compliance.

Requesting, distributing and documenting subject payments in accordance with university guidelines Training, including PEERRS and HIPAA training, gaining appropriate knowledge of EPIC database and others assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • Applicants must have a high school diploma, working on a bachelor?s degree or above in psychiatry, public health, social work, sociology, or related health field are preferred.
  • Must be comfortable working in the Emergency Department (following established protocols to facilitate social distancing and reduce COVID-19 transmission risks), interacting with diverse populations, and discussing sensitive topics (violence, gun carriage, substance use) with study participants.
  • Able to work independently for extended periods while maintaining effective communication with team leads, study coordinators and principal investigators.
  • This position requires flexibility and availability to work a varying schedule with regular afternoon, evening and weekend shifts.
  • Candidate will be expected to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adhere to strict confidentiality policies.

Desired Qualifications*

Previous research, clinic/hospital work or volunteer experience and knowledge of research process is preferred.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
