Job Responsibilities
Truman State University is seeking a collaborative, innovative, and service-oriented individual for the position of Research and Instruction Librarian at Pickler Memorial Librarian. As a member of the Research and Instruction Department, the Research and Instruction Librarian will have opportunities to collaborate within the library and across campus to support student success and provide responsive reference and instruction services to the Truman community. The primary responsibilities of the position include:
- Design and deliver classroom and online information literacy instruction for a variety of disciplines and collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy into first-year experience courses.
- Teach an evolving one-credit course in the use of library and information resources
- Create and maintain digital learning materials, such as research guides, videos, and tutorials, to support information literacy instruction and promote library resources and services.
- Monitor trends in emerging technologies and professional standards to enhance information literacy instruction and library services.
- Provide high quality reference and research assistance in-person, by phone, and online.
- Participate in collection development activities and serve as a liaison to campus departments as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- An ALA-accredited Master’s of Library/Information Science degree by start date.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices and current trends in information literacy instruction and reference services.
- Demonstrated effective presentation, training, or teaching ability
- Knowledge of current and emerging instructional and library-related technologies
- Experience creating web-based guides, videos, and tutorials.
- Strong commitment to public service and teamwork with the ability to work successfully with faculty, staff, students, and other library stakeholders and patrons.
Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with instruction and reference services in an academic library setting.
- Demonstrated teaching ability in traditional and online learning environments
- Experience with current and emerging technologies and their applications in academic libraries
- Experience using Social Media for marketing and promotion of library services

Salary
