Position Description
Performs routine pre-award and/or post-award sponsored programs activities associated with management and oversight of the life cycle of awards.
Major/Essential Functions
- Administer comprehensive post-award support of university sponsored projects and collaborate between institutional constituents (primarily principal investigator and college/department staff) to gain efficiencies, enhance information systems, and provide excellent customer service using best practice techniques for managing sponsored projects.
- Assist with developing and maintaining internal and campus-wide Cognos reports to analyze trends and monitor compliance and performance.
- Assist in developing and delivering internal and campus-wide training programs for principal investigators, research faculty, department grant administrators and Accounting Services Research staff.
- Administer assigned Research and Development team projects to achieve turnaround goals and deadlines.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 1 year experience OR combination of education and experience to equal 5 years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business or a closely related field.
- CRA/CPRA/CFRA certificate or eligible candidate.
- Post-award grant experience including budgeting, invoicing, financial reporting, award set up and award closeout.
- Experience with Banner, Cognos and Cayuse (or similar financial, reporting and grants management systems).
- Ability to learn complex information systems and exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Experience preparing and giving presentations.
- Demonstrated competency in verbal and written communication, time management, accounting or analytical procedures, problem-solving, and decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the institution, which includes advising principal investigators and sponsored programs administration staff.
