Compensation for this role:

Starting Pay: $18 per hour plus a $5.00/hr. night shift differential

Work Status: Hours are as needed, non-exempt.

Schedule: There are many different shifts available as this is a 24/7 facility.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR –

This position’s primary function is to provide crisis intervention, advocacy and support services to victims and children of domestic violence in a confidential, residential setting and on our crisis line.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING –

This position’s primary responsibilities include;

  • Serve as a relief residential advocate at a shelter facility for victims of domestic violence and their dependents.
  • Provide individual crisis-oriented advocacy, intervention and safety planning.
  • Provide support services and supportive listening as requested.
  • Maintain resident files, in accordance with the YWCA standards, along with standards established by various funding agencies, all the while documenting referrals. Records must be complete.
  • Support quality assurance and evaluation of services as required.
  • Observe all program requirements for confidentiality and privilege communication.
  • Perform screenings and intake paperwork of survivors which includes explaining the shelter rules and guidelines.
  • Provide a healthy environment for survivors and dependents by ensuring all residents understand and adhere to shelters rules and guidelines.
  • Supervise resident’s household tasks, distributes food, clothing, linens and personal items to shelter clients.
  • Maintain shelter security and contact emergency personnel as needed.
  • Attend appropriate YWCA and community meetings, attends training sessions on group facilitation and other relevant issues.
  • Responsible for answering 24-hour crisis/referral hotline.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Candidate that can work nights and weekends are preferred.
  • 1 years working with survivors of domestic violence preferred.
  • Must maintain 20 hours of ongoing training on domestic violence issues annually.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Working with survivors of intimate partner domestic violence may increase exposure to secondary trauma.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is occasionally active and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work will be performed in both inside and outside environments.
