GENERAL SUMMARY:

Summary:

Provides technical accounting assistance to IT application managers for all financial applications to ensure integrations are timely and accurate. Monitors changes to Accounting Standards Updates (ASUs) to ensure financial statements are presented in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Standards. (GAAP). Maintains knowledge of current and future releases of Finance department software to determine the impact on daily operations, policies and procedures and reporting. Assists with Financial and Single Audits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Provides technical oversight to tax software implementation and all updates. Supervises work of the Senior Tax Accountant and accounting intern(s). Assists with tax filings when necessary.
2. Provides technical oversight to Lease Query updates.
3. Provides technical assistance with STRATA Decisions Support reconciliations to the General Ledger to ensure proper mapping.
4. Identifies opportunities to improve accounting technology, including ERP reporting.
5. Trains the Finance staff on BIRST reporting or other reporting applications.
6. Conducts research of accounting system discrepancies and works to resolve issues with the IT staff.
7. Maintains knowledge of current and future releases of ERP software and integrated partner products.
8. Reviews intercompany accounts and supervises the financial statement preparation of related corporation functions, such as-Development Corporation, Bayhealth Foundation, Bayhealth Properties, Sussex Campus LLC, and other entities. Presents quarterly reports to Subsidiary Board of Directors.
9. Assists with grant filling or Single Audits when needed.
10. Serves as liaison with auditors and will research new accounting pronouncements to ensure compliance.
11. Assists Controller with footnotes to the statements and uploading data timely to the auditors secure FTP site.
12. Manage-, train, and evaluate assigned staff.
13. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL:

• Education Bachelor Degree
  Accounting
  Or other business-related field.
  
• Credential Certified Public Accountant
  
  
  

EXPERIENCE:

Required: 10 years of accounting or financial auditing experience.

Preferred: Public accounting/ healthcare or audit experience.
