Registered Nurse (RN) Weekend Premium-Cardiac Care Unit Job at Inova Health System

We are seeking a full time experienced RN for the Critical Care Unit (ICU) at Inova Mt. Vernon Hospital.
Shift: Day- 7am-7pm
The Critical Care Unit/Intensive Care Unit at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is a 20 negative pressure bed unit. Care is provided to adult and geriatric medical and surgical patients with potentially life-threatening illnesses. Primary interventions include: cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, acute ventilator support and management and continuous renal replacement therapy.
The patient population includes individuals who are critically ill with cardiac, respiratory, renal, metabolic or multi-organ disorders. Patients are admitted directly from the operating room to recover from anesthesia when they are deemed unstable or critical by the surgeon and/or anesthesiologist.
The team consists of the following: Intensivists during the day, ICU coverage during the night, Clinical Director/Senior Director support, RN Unit Supervisor/CN support, RNs and Clinical technicians, Palliative/WRTC partnership, Critical Care Educator support and Critical Care Mentor support. RNs maintain a 1:2 nurse patient ratio except identified 1:1’s: Artic sun, Post t-PA, CRRT, EKOS, Malignant Hyperthermia and Massive Transfusion. Team Nursing is also utilized on this unit.
The types of patients seen include the following: Stable Intracranial Bleeds, Stroke, Sepsis, Post t-PA’s, Artic sun, Pneumonia, CRRT, DKA’s, CPAP, Bi-PAP, Heart Failure, EKOS, Post-surgery alcohol withdrawal, GIB, NSTEMI and care of the Covid patient.
- Requires a minimum of 6 months of Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting
- Prefer 1 year ICU experience
- Education: BSN or MSN
o Identify which Accredited School the employee plans to attend
o Submit a review of transcript from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses
o Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date
o Complete BSN within 24 months of start date
- BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification (American Heart Association) required
- RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RN
- Proficient in English, strong verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skill and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards others
- Proficient computer skills required
