Summary/Objective

Follow ANA Standards Practice in Assessing, diagnosing, identifying outcomes, planning, implementing, evaluating and providing quality of practice for patients.

Essential Job Duties

  • Assumes responsibility for the efficient management of the Oncology Clinic/Treatment patients as assigned, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of clinical components of care required in Oncology Clinic.

  • Organizes activities during the patient's initial visit to the Oncology Clinic to ensure that all required assessments of patient are completed, along with patient education and are documented appropriately.

  • Performs patient assessments and reassessments on a regular basis in accordance with standards of care with documentation of these assessments as a basis for planning of each patient's care.

  • Ensures that nursing interventions are appropriately carried out with evaluation of patient responses to these interventions and ensures that all nursing interventions and patient responses are communicated to responsible practitioners as indicated and that all components of the nursing process are documented in accordance with standards of practice.

  • Provides direct supervision of other personnel assigned to the Oncology Clinic to ensure appropriate delegation of responsibilities in collaboration with the Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager and/or Clinical Director.

  • Acts as patient advocate in obtaining care with questioning of orders by medical and other professional staff when necessary.

    Required Education and Experience

    Current Texas Nursing License

    1-3 years of related experience.

    Required License/Certifications

    Valid RN license to work in the State of Texas; CPR.
