Regional Senior Credit Officer Job at Associated Bank
Job Summary
Under functional guidance, responsible for approval and concurrence duties for Associated Bank's Commercial Lending groups. Using assigned credit approval authority, responsible, with Line of Business, for insuring commercial loan requests are consistent with ASBC's Loan Policy while maintaining acceptable risk limits for the Bank, minimizing losses and maximizing profitability goals. To the extent strict adherence to credit policy or underwriting standards is not present in specific credit requests, assure that sufficient mitigation of such variances is achieved when this discretion is exercised. Assist in monitoring the quality of the commercial loan portfolio and make accurate and timely decisions regarding Asset Quality Ratings (AQR) and portfolio administration. Be a resource for all associates on Loan Policy.
Job Accountabilities
- Credit Approval and Sales/Credit Collaboration - Directly responsible for credit approval and concurrence within assigned credit authority. Assure thorough analysis of the credit worthiness and proper loan structure while maintaining consistent adherence to Commercial Lending Policies and Standards as well as regulatory compliance. Signature authority to be assigned depending on experience and on the type of credit request. Add value to the sales process by providing expertise in credit policy and proper loan structuring, as well as appropriate response times to maximize opportunities in meeting sales goals. Use the approval process and discussions of opportunity memos to comply with portfolio thresholds and risk tolerances. Work with Business Segment Leaders and Team Leaders to maintain effective communication between credit and the respective Lines of Business. Attend Line of Business sales meetings to monitor existing and prospective client pipelines, as well as providing information/guidance on Loan Policy changes. Attend outside/inside sales calls when necessary and appropriate. Participate in the development of Portfolio Managers and Relationship Managers through active credit discussions and coaching when requested. May be directly involved in due diligence efforts as well as integration of newly acquired institutions or portfolios.
- Portfolio Administration - Monitor maturity dates, annual review dates, past due financial reporting, borrowing certificates, compliance certificates, trend cards, overdrafts and document exceptions to ensure the ongoing quality of the portfolio. Monitor the commercial loan portfolio quality metrics to contribute towards the management of portfolio concentration levels and improved AQRs and portfolio composition. Take on special projects as assigned or requested by Senior Managers. Maintain current and thorough knowledge of the Loan Policy and Regulatory issues.
- Monitor Asset Quality - Make accurate and timely assessment of Loan Risk Ratings while also utilizing bank systems and reports. Attendance at Quarterly Criticized/Classified meetings to review credit strategies and provide input as necessary to mitigate risk and potential losses to the bank.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree Business, Finance, Accounting Required
- 4-7 years Credit Administration experience in which approval/signature authority was granted and utilized. Required

Candidate can be located anywhere within the footprint of the bank, consisting of Wisconsin, Minnesota, or Illinois.
