SUMMARY
Good Harvest Skills Training Program is an intensive food service training program that integrates job readiness and culinary instruction in a classroom setting with practical experience in the production kitchen. Under the supervision of the Training Chef/Director, coordinates recruiting, and retention events and provides intensive case management services for students while enrolled in the Good Harvest Skills Training Program. The Recruiting and Retention Specialist facilitates the enrollment process to include organizing onsite enrollment events with partner agencies serving opportunity youth, connecting with local community organizations in targeted neighborhoods, conducting eligibility assessments and registration. The Recruiting and Retention Specialist plays an integral role on the team providing barrier mitigation for students.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Recruitment
- Primarily responsible for marketing the program to both partner agencies and the general public.
- Facilitate onsite recruitment events with partner agencies serving opportunity youth.
- Develop referral toolkits for local community organizations and human service providers located within the targeted neighborhoods.
- Actively engages with such agencies to ensure a steady stream of student candidate referrals in accordance with program goals and standards.
Enrollment
- Review applications, administer assessments, and complete the intake process to include initial assessments, orientation, goal setting, and removing barriers to enrollment.
- Leads the orientation and onboarding process for Challenge Week in collaboration with Training Chef/Director, Job Developer, and SVDP Enterprises staff.
- Participates in essential skills training.
- Conduct follow-up surveys post orientation.
Case Management
- Provide strength-based case management and work with students to set goals to enhance their self-esteem and confidence.
- Participate in team meetings to provide information and input regarding student performance.
- Refer students to internal and external programs and resources (e.g., housing assistance, long-term counseling, childcare, substance abuse counseling, mental health counseling, diversion, and expungement services) that can assist with mitigating barriers.
- Engages with students daily during roll call and dismissal.
- Maintains a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality, dual-relationships, and professional stature.
Data and Performance Tracking
- Work closely with Training Chef/Director to track student attendance and overall performance while enrolled in training program.
- Performs data entry and uses the data system to produce relevant reporting related to tracking outcomes.
- Maintain case notes, paper and electronic files, and database in real time as specified by compliance standards.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Attend and participate in all staff meetings, workshops, and training to enhance professional development.
- Attend special events as necessary of St. Vincent de Paul Enterprises and St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore.
- Uphold the vision, mission, and values of St. Vincent de Paul Enterprises and St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore.
- Support a welcoming and positive environment for students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree.
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in case management or related field preferably working with opportunity youth.
- Cultural understanding, including the ability to relate in a courteous, comfortable, non-judgmental or patronizing manner with persons of all socio-economic and religious backgrounds.
- Proven experience working with hard-to-employ population.
- Must have experience with direct service delivery.
- Ability to work in a diverse team setting required.
- Must have excellent time management, organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient technology skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and data management systems.
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and some weekends.
