Are you looking for a fantastic career at Aqua? We have a great opportunity for a Rates Analyst reporting to the Director, Municipal Acquisition Integrations, Rates, and Customer Information Systems. The Business Analyst I will assist in the daily reviewing and testing of all updated customer tariff rate codes in the customer information system, including maintaining and monitoring the quality control function according to the rate change documented internal control procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Primary Duties and Responsibilities)
  • Assists and supports the rates team with timely and accurate updates to the company’s water and wastewater rate codes in the CIS/Customer Information System in accordance with state tariffs. Activities include confirming check rate report details and matching rates to tariffs; verifying bill simulation calculations, service type updates on customer accounts, rate code updates on customer accounts, move out/move procedures, and customer accounts adjustments; verifying completed Information Technology Support requests, E-printing of reports and screens; verifying bill pro-rating over rate change periods, etc.
  • Collaborates with peers, business units and/or project teams to ensure business needs are communicated. Partners with business owners to support simplification and consistency in working routines.
  • Performs a variety of activities using Aqua’s Customer Information System (CIS) environment including but not limited to the following applications (Customer Information System, Service types, rate code structures, billing calculations, meter reading dates, days of service, billing min/max days, Service history screen, Ledger card screen including bill detail).
  • Participates in making recommendations for business process improvements as needed to align performance with business goals.
  • Maintains awareness of billing calculation method and billing and rate processes.
  • Investigates operational or business problems in the CIS system and provides recommendations to business.
  • Complies with Aqua IS standards and best practices.
  • Participates in solving business problems by defining the problem, interviewing stakeholders, identifying, and evaluating alternatives, and presenting the findings.
  • Updates, maintains and organizes documentation of processes, updates, and data.
  • Performs other related administrative tasks as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS (Required Experience, Education, Licenses, and Certifications)
  • High School graduate or GED degree; Associates Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three years Customer Service operator experience.
  • A minimum of one year Customer Information System navigation preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (Examples below)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Detailed working knowledge of Customer Information Systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered multi-tasking environment
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Perform sedentary work- exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
