Position Summary
The program coordinator will lead the programming and engagement efforts of one of the five student development programs, Raíces Unidas. The coordinator will cultivate the salient identity of Latinx students and bring Latinx identity conversations to the forefront. This position will oversee the vision, strategic leadership, and program logistics.
This position has a lot of flexibility. The coordinator will work closely with the Latinx Club in honoring, celebrating, and uplifting Latinx students, all while simultaneously working to make Westminster a more inclusive place.
Additionally, as part of the personnel within the Student Diversity and Inclusion Center, this position will support other center programs such as First Year Orientation, MLK Day of Service, Pride and support the other student development programs and collaboration among other student employees.
This student will:
- Establish student development strategies for the program
- Update and understand current academic literature pertaining to Latinx students
- Develop and execute co-curricular programming for the academic year
- Manage and update social media
- Manage and update Latinx Program website
- Support Latinx identity develop a salient through programming included but not limited to:
- Host lectures or conversations that speak to issues important to the Latinx students
- Distribute and advertise Latinx scholarships
- Plan field trips
- Plan social engagements
- Conduct annual assessment (quantitative and qualitative) on the program goals and campus wide goals
- Support SDI staff in other Center operations
- Assist the SDIC in celebrating Día de Muertos and Latinx Heritage Month in September
- Access and manage confidential information pertaining to students
This position reports to the Director of the Student Diversity and Inclusion Center
Required Qualifications
- Previous training in diversity and inclusion
- Previous courses and/or knowledge in gender, justice, or diversity emphasis
- Know and understand student development theory and practices
- Experience and knowledge of working with underserved/minoritized student populations
- Knowledge of and enthusiasm for Latinx identity conversations
- Must be an enrolled Westminster student
- Passion for justice
- Expectation to keep confidentiality and sign confidentiality agreement
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred: multilingual speaker
