Quarry Lead - Night Shift Job at Knife River - South Dakota Division
JOB SUMMARY
Directs and coordinates production activities of quarry.
Operates mobile and crushing equipment.
Repairs and adjusts equipment such as screens, conveyors, and other machine involved with the mining operation.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists Quarry Superintendent in preparing production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
Assists Quarry Superintendent with production operations and establishes production priorities and sequences.
Leadership duties including training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Coordinates shift activities to ensure production quantities and quality of products meet specifications.
Reviews shift production and operating reports to resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
Inspects machines and equipment and ensures specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
Ability to operate machines and equipment in safe and productive manner.
Arrange for repairs of equipment and machinery.
Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
Orders or requisitions materials and supplies.
Resolves worker complaints or submits unsettled complaints to Quarry Superintendent for action.
Enforces and follows safety rules and regulations (Federal, state, local and company policies)
Performs other duties as assigned.
Typical hours during Production are Sun-Thur 4:30pm-4:30am. Fridays based on business need - 4:30pm-1:30am. Typical hours during Maintenance are M-Th 4:30pm-2:30am.

Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school or GED plus higher trade or technical school or equivalent in related field.
Experience in Mining or Quarry operations or in a related field.
Driver's license required.
