NOV is actively recruiting a Quality Specialist in Belton, TX. The successful candidate will use scientific methods, statistical tools, and problem-solving techniques to assure quality goals are met. Interfaces with external inspection and audit authorities to ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, FGS, and customer specifications. The Quality Engineer should have a mechanical aptitude and experience with manufacturing processes. Experience with reinforced plastics is highly desirable, as is familiarity with ASME, ASTM, or other industry-related codes and standards.

JOB SUMMARY

Uses scientific methods, statistical tools, and problem-solving techniques to assure quality goals are met. Interfaces with external inspection and audit authorities to ensure compliance with industry codes and standards, as well as both FGS and customer specifications.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates collection, analysis, and reporting of quality-related data using statistical techniques
  • Participates in continuous improvement projects with a focus on manufacturing processes
  • Initiates actions to prevent the occurrence of product nonconformity
  • Serves as an auditor for internal, inter-facility, and supplier audits as needed
  • Interfaces with external inspection and audit agencies to ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and customer specifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Approximately 10% of domestic travel is required to perform inspections and audits or for training purposes
  • The Quality Engineer should have a mechanical aptitude and experience with manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with reinforced plastics is highly desirable, as is familiarity with ASME, ASTM, or other industry-related codes and standards

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science degree (Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemistry Engineering) OR equivalent experience in industrial quality control.
  • Experience with reinforced plastics is highly desirable, as is familiarity with ASME, ASTM, ISO 9001, API Q1 or other industry-related codes and standards
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and mechanical aptitude
  • Self-starter: able to organize and prioritize tasks to accomplish quality objectives in the absence of specific instruction
  • Comfortable working as part of a team, or individually
  • Strong work ethic. Willing to put in extra hours when required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
