Quality Engineer Job at Wenger Manufacturing Inc
Scope
The Quality Engineer reports to the VP of Operations and is an integral part of the staff. The position has a functional reporting relationship to the VP of Engineering.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a Wenger Sabetha Quality Management System which complies with client specific requirements. Initiate corrective action when required. Report results of system performance monitoring to plant and corporate management.
- Develop and manage an internal audit system to check effectiveness of plant processes, ensuring conformance to all process and system certification requirements, customer requirements, Global Wenger Quality Management System, and plant Quality Management System procedures. Initiate corrective action when required. Report results of system performance monitoring to plant and corporate management.
- Develop, monitor, and report status of Customer Scorecards in conjunction with Sales and Service groups. Take action to work with other functional departments as needed to improve scores. Maintain positive relationships with customers.
- Support plant Supplier Quality management processes. Promote supplier development by driving Wenger requirements up the supply chain.
- Develop and Facilitate plant-wide corrective and preventive action and problem resolution of customer complaints, field failures, warranty claims, internal and external audit findings, and supplier issues to insure prompt and effective responses. Report status to company management.
- Support implementation of control procedures and standards for quality inspection and measurement systems.
- Participate and lead in quality planning for the products and processes of the plant.
- Work closely with cross-functional staff to develop strategy and promote long term success of the facility.
- Occasional travel to other Wenger locations, supplier, and customer sites.
- Support in monitoring departmental budgets and report on major variations.
Education and Experience
- Practical experience in quality system implementation and auditing, with knowledge of manufacturing industry quality system methodologies.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for quality policies and procedures.
- Preferred experience in the automotive industry.
- Must have solid project management, communication, problem solving, and leadership skills.
- Must have the demonstrated ability to lead through influence.
- A Bachelor’s degree (Engineering, Business, or other related field), plus a minimum of three to five years of experience in quality engineering.
