SUMMARY

The QA Specialist is responsible for material control, inspection, and maintenance of quarantine products in the facility. Performs in depth review and release of compounded drugs from the facility to the public while upholding FDA & Pharmacy board regulations of cGMP & GDP. Responsible for preservation of retain samples, environmental monitoring and assisting with routine logbooks. Works closely to maintain stability samples and tracking for all compounded drugs. This role will work closely with the Pharmacy staff to manage and maintain Standard Operating Procedures throughout the facility and while compounding.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assistance in preventing defects and mishaps beginning with the initiation of compounding and ending with the release of productAdvises Pharmacy staff on deficiencies and environmental obstacles

Uses databases to maintain records of specified drug requirements
Works with staff in creating non-conformance reports as well as corrective and preventative actions

  • Assists in developing methods to prevent mistakes and defectsObserves complex processes and tasks and identifies risk factors

Communicates quality control information to pertinent task owners
Evaluation of materials to verify FDA and Pharmacy Board standards are met

  • Works with laboratory to ensure conforming results on all products madeImplements standards for inspection

Monitors process and progress checks
Maintains production records
Has final say in release or rejection of every batch of drug products for distribution and sale

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years industry experience
  • Preferable bachelor’s degree in a Life Science
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance and Improvement processes, analytical skills: systems thinking, organizational knowledge, problem identifications and problem analyzing and solving.

  • Proven analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Advanced Excel & Word skills
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, possession of strong organizational skills and attention to detail is critical for success on the job
  • Ability to function as part of a team with other team members within the company and the client
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written are necessary as well as an ability to deal with everyone from front-line employees to top level executives
  • Experience working in an environment with daily exposure to medication names and terminology
