General Job Description:

IES Residential is seeking an experienced full-time Purchaser to join team. The Purchaser will insure informed purchasing decisions are made and to improve procurement effectiveness by providing purchasing expertise and advice to company departments. They will use their unique talents to ensure the companies material needs are met, considering price, quality and delivery to ensure continuity of supply.

Salary: $60,000-80,000k


Job Duties:


  • Coordinating the purchase of materials and services for all functions of the company
  • Communicate any supply problems which may impact business operations
  • Providing value added services to the company by constantly striving to find new and better products, sources of supply, and better ways of meeting the company needs
  • Act as liaison between suppliers and relevant departments on purchasing processes, new projects and activities
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and suppliers
  • Developing company purchasing standards based upon value analysis, economies of scale, total acquisition costs, and budget limitations
  • Assisting company departments in locating substitute materials in cases of emergencies, material shortages, strikes, or other external circumstances
  • Protecting the company against unfair or unethical trade practices and unrealistic or exorbitant price increases
  • Expediting, when requested and warranted, the delivery of goods and services
  • Maintaining the master vendor and commodity list
  • Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings using best practice tools and methods
Specific Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in electrical procurement preferred
  • High level of computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
  • Experience with Spectrum preferred
  • Must be an effective communicator, articulate and able to clearly convey information, teach, etc.; must have good interpersonal and leadership skills and interface with all departments.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, and must be able to speak, read and write the English language.
