Purpose:

The MasterCare Technician is responsible for managing trades and conducting minor general repairs and providing a high level of customer service with quality workmanship to Minto and its Homeowners in homes preparing for closing, as well as occupied homes after various inspections are completed.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Work with and manage subcontractors, in coordination with MasterCare Quality Control Manager and Community team to schedule all items pre and post close to be completed by subcontractors within the Division warranty cycle time and closing expectations.

• Conducts minor interior repairs on windows, doors, frames, baseboards, floors and carpets, electrical finish repairs (i.e. faceplates, light bulbs), carpentry finishing (i.e. trim), exterior repairs on garage, decking, foundation, repairs to attic, insulation and drywall,
• Cleans up after trades including paint drops, grout etc;
• Installs and repairs bathroom accessories when capable, available and needed;
• Performs touch up painting when required;
• Replaces a/c grills, vents, and filters, millwork hinges, and other minor carpentry
• Reports defects and damages to staff and sub-contractors if applicable;
• Can Read and review architectural drawings if needed;
• Improves, corrects and reports concerns in quality workmanship;
• Completes repairs when deemed necessary from the Minto Pre and post-Delivery Inspection and Pre and post-Delivery Orientation deficiencies that is conducted with the purchaser;
• Conducts minor repairs on electrical and plumbing finishes;
• Troubleshoots with Site Superintendents and Finishing Site Superintendents on issues needing to be resolved;
• Completes work orders and obtains trade assistance in conducting repairs when required;
• Maintains the highest standards of quality workmanship and leaves space clean after repairs;
• Communicates and deals with the homeowners face to face with regards to their deficiencies;
• Conducts quality control home inspections before and after closing;
• Communicates and coordinates with cleaners, team members, construction and property management to ensure customer satisfaction at all levels;
• Other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as requested by management.

Technical competencies:

Education: High School Diploma is required. Post graduate education i.e. College Diploma in construction or related trade is an asset.

Experience: A minimum of three to five years of relevant work experience in the construction industry preferred.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

• Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), Outlook
• Knowledge in general carpentry, framing, familiar with minor plumbing and electrical finishes, and general punch
• Knowledge in home building

• Knowledge of 2-10 Homebuyers Performance Guidelines and Warranty Coverage is an asset
• Knowledge of construction processes and repair methods as well as quality finishing work is an asset

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
