Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly movated individual to serve as a working supervisor. This individual would schedule, plan, implement and direct the regional operaon of the Intellectual/Developmental
Disability Secon within the Division of Long-Term Care Field Operaons.
Job Responsibilities
1. Responsible for the daily supervision of regional office staff of the Intellectual/Developmental
Disability Section.
2. Travels to conduct surveys of Inspection Program for Intermediate Care Facilities
(ICF)/Developmental Disabilities (DD), Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF) Pediatric and Seriously
Mentally Ill (SMI) facilities to maintain survey skills and proficiency in the application of state and federal regulations and survey procedures.
3. Develops regional survey schedules for certification, licensure and Inspection of Care (IOC) survey activities.
4. Participates in the development of technical program policies and procedures.
5. Serves as working supervisor.
6. Serves as the regional liaison on Intellectual/Developmental Disability section issues with other Department Divisions, State agencies, provider groups and associations, and interested citizens.
7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college.
Requires prior experience equivalent to three years of progressively responsible administrative experience working with persons with developmental disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
College courses in a health and human services field.
Thorough knowledge of Illinois long term licensing and Federal Certification programs.
Two years experience conducting surveys in health care facilities.
One year experience developing and coordinating survey schedules.
One year experience exercising independent judgment as a working supervisor.
One year experience preparing complex written and oral reports.
One year work experience in Microsoft Word, processing, and spreadsheet applications (i.e.
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
Conditions of Employment
Requires ability to travel.
Requires possession of a valid drivers license.
