PT Clerical Assistant, Educational Opportunity Center (EOC)

Up to 20 hours/week for 50 weeks

ABOUT THE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY CENTER

North Shore Educational Opportunity Center is part of a statewide network of service sites that helps low-income and first-generation students gain access to higher education. Two full-time Advisors provide free one-on-one counseling to help clients identify a potential career path and the education programs and to understand the college application process, the financial aid process (how to complete the FAFSA,) and how to pay for and succeed in the appropriate education program.

POSITION DESCRIPTION - As a part of the EOC team, this position provides general support to the EOC program assisting with data entry, clerical, and communication needs of the program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors, organizes, and responds to EOC communication platforms, including and not limited to emails and voicemail daily, provides general program information, schedules appointments, and refers calls to EOC Advisors as warranted;
  • Calls (lists of current and former EOC clients) to schedule appointments; ~two to three hours of daily calling, reach out to 15 to 25 students, #s vary based on such as the probability of a successful conversation).
  • Monitors EOC social media accounts daily and works to bolster EOC's online reach;
  • Works with EOC Advisors to curate relevant content as posted by EOC community partners, agencies, schools, etc.; shares relevant content at least once/week, more often as warranted;
  • Manages program supplies and re-order needs, generates electronic purchase requests as needed, manages related paperwork;
  • Attends staff meeting and in-service trainings and scribes weekly EOC team meeting notes;
  • Contribute to team efforts by maintaining a positive attitude and atmosphere of collaboration to meet the short and long term goals for the EOC program
  • Keeps a detailed and accurate account of time and effort using Google Calendar;
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • One year experience in an office or customer service setting preferred;
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of student records and information;
  • Experience curating and creating social media content;
  • Strong office organization skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong computing skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to establish a positive connection with the EOC team;
  • Familiarity with TRIO programs very desirable;
  • Bi-lingual Spanish preferred.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.


Additional Information:

SALARY: $18.00 per hour, non-benefited position, up to 20 hours per week.
