Family Service Association of Howard County is hiring a Property Manager for its Jackson Street Commons apartment facility. The Property Manager of the Jackson Street Commons Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) Project performs property management duties that related to leasing, building maintenance, and daily operations of the premises. This position works collaboratively with tenants, partner agencies, community residents, stakeholders and supportive service staff to ensure tenants live in safe and decent affordable housing and receive the supportive services that are needed. This position must be committed to working toward the goal of helping tenants obtain and maintain housing. The Property Manager is also responsible for supervision of Maintenance personnel.
Selected Job Requirements
- Assures quality customer relations with tenants, outside agencies and the general public via phone and in person resolving questions, concerns, and complaints.
- Promote Housing First principles by pro-actively working with tenants and supportive services staff to assure tenants are able to maintain their housing.
- Shows available units to prospective tenants.
- Coordinates move-in process with prospective tenant, case manager/service provider, when applicable; orientates tenant to unit, building and neighborhood upon move in.
- Completes all move-in documentation including but not limited to lease, addendums, and income verifications. Completes all annual lease recertification's with residents within the required time lines. This includes completing paperwork completely and accurately.
- Collect rents and maintain computer records. Process rent adjustments in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain tenant files and related documentation regarding continuing eligibility and adjustments.
- Complete rental agreements.

Qualifications include:
- Education / Experience: Bachelor's is required. However, relevant experience and education may be substituted for bachelor's requirement.
- Experience: One to three years’ experience minimum of social work, education, and/or property management/leasing; three to five years’ experience preferred.
- Skills / Abilities:
- Organizational skills;
- Must understand family dynamics and community resources;
- Must possess excellent writing, computer, and communication skills; must possess experience in Microsoft Office software and the ability to learn other software programs currently in use
- Ability to speak, read, and write English
- Able to work autonomously
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Working knowledge of safety and security practices and procedures,
- Knowledge of crisis intervention, interpersonal communication, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff, volunteers and public.
- Demonstrates emotional maturity and good judgment;
- Ability to handle stressful situations;
- Other Qualifications:
o Must hold a valid Driver’s License, have a car for full-time business use and maintain State of Indiana minimum insurance coverage.
